Do Dietitians Make Meal Plans? Here’s What I Offer
Hi, I’m Jess - an Accredited Practising Dietitian based in Fremantle.
One of the most common questions I get asked is: “Can you give me a meal plan?”
The short answer is: Yes, if that’s what you’re looking for.
But here’s the longer answer, and why it might not be exactly what you expect (and that’s a good thing).
Yes, I Create Personalised Meal Plans, But They’re Not One-Size-Fits-All
Some clients love the idea of a weekly meal plan. Maybe they’re time-poor, starting a new routine, or just need help figuring out where to begin. I totally get that, and that’s why I do offer personalised meal plans as an optional add-on.
These plans are designed around you, your preferences, your schedule, your health goals, and your lifestyle. I’ll never hand you a generic list and tell you to follow it perfectly. Instead, I create something that works as a flexible guide, not a rigid rulebook.
Because let’s be honest; life happens. You might have leftovers, dinner out with friends, or nights when nothing goes to plan. A good meal plan should support you, not stress you out.
Why I Don’t Rely on Meal Plans Alone
Meal plans can be a helpful starting point, but they’re just one piece of the puzzle.
In fact, some people find that strict plans create more pressure than support:
❌ Feeling like you’ve “messed up” if you don’t follow it exactly
❌ Losing confidence in your own food decisions
❌ Getting stuck in an all-or-nothing mindset
That’s why I spend time helping my clients build skills and structure, not just follow instructions. We look at what’s realistic for your week, how to structure meals that leave you feeling satisfied, and how to navigate busy or low-energy days - whether you’re cooking for one, feeding a family, or juggling FIFO swings.
More Than Just a Meal Plan: Support That Fits Your Life
Meal plans can be a helpful part of your nutrition journey, but they're not the only tool I use.
In our sessions, we work together to build skills and routines that help you feel more confident with food day to day. That might include:
✔️ Coming up with simple, balanced meal ideas for busy weeks
✔️ Planning dinners the whole family will eat (without cooking 3 different meals)
✔️ Finding snack options that actually keep you full
✔️ Navigating supermarket overwhelm or food fatigue
✔️ Making food choices that support your health and your lifestyle
Whether you want a structured plan, a bit of inspiration, or just some help simplifying food again, I’ve got you.
